SCSI DEVICES
- When installing a
SCSI peripheral make sure that you configure a unique SCSI ID for each device
on the SCSI chain.
- If you are using
devices on both 68Pin and 50Pin interfaces, you may have devices use the same
ID¡¦s as long as they are configured on different interfaces.
- Make sure that the
first SCSI ID and the last SCSI ID are terminated. If you are using SCSI devices
on both 68Pin and 50Pin interfaces, you must terminate first device on both
chains.
- In most cases the
SCSI controller is the last device on the SCSI chain, therefore it has be
to terminated.
- Ultra 2 Wide LVD
SCSI Interface devices do not have device termination, and are terminated
using the LVD cable. The terminator is located at one end of the cable. Attach
the connector with the termination to the first LVD device on the SCSI chain.
MOTHERBOARDS
- Before installing
the motherboard into the case, install the processor, memory and the video
card, plug the motherboard up to the power supply externally and make sure
that the board comes up.
- When you mount the
motherboard in to the case, before you connect the all the cables and install
all the card, plug in the video card and the memory, and connect the power
supply and make sure the board comes up.
- Make sure to always
flash the motherboard BIOS to the latest version. You can download the BIOS
update from the motherboard manufactures web site.
IDE DEVICES
- If you are installing
multiple IDE devices in to your computer, take your time and install one device
at a time. Once the device is installed, make sure the motherboard BIOS can
detect it, before you add another device.
- When configuring
two IDE devices on the same channel, make sure that the hard drive is set
as master and the secondary device is set as slave. The same principal applied
to the IDE devices that are installed on the secondary IDE channel.
- If you are formatting
the primary IDE hard drive and after you execute "fdisk" command you return
back at the prompt, you most likely have an ATAPI Zip Drive on the same IDE
chain. Some motherboards will not allow you to format the drive if you are
sharing the EIDE chain with an ATAPI Zip Drive. Disconnect the Zip drive and
format the hard drive, once the drive is formatted.
